SARAH J. SIM
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
3 years Art Pedagogy @Academy of Fine Arts, Munich Germany
2017 Certificate in Interior Design @New Hampshire Institute of Art, Manchester NH
Sarah's story unfolds as a rich tapestry woven with artistry, passion, and a profound connection to nature. Born and raised in Germany into a family of artists, both her parents and two sisters are entrepreneurs and artists. From a young age, her parents exposed her to cultural places across Europe, instilling an appreciation for history, art, design, and architecture.
After completing high school, Sarah stepped into her father's legacy by studying art pedagogy at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where she explored the intersection of art and education. During her college years, she had the opportunity to assist fashion designer G. Thylmann, the head of Bogner Sport. Engaging in research, developing design ideas, and exploring treasures from foreign cultures, this experience reignited her love for patterns, textiles and design.
In 2015, Sarah crossed the Atlantic to New Hampshire where she married her long love Ian, a local timber framer and contractor. While helping Ian design and build their own house in the scenic landscapes of Greenfield NH, Sarah completed a certificate program in Interior Design at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. The building process not only deepened her understanding of construction, but also provided invaluable insights into structural elements. Their home nestled in the woods is a testament to their shared dreams and creative vision.
In recent years, while forging her path to a soul-filled existence, Sarah delved into her own healing journey—confronting personal trauma and ancestral ties. Committed to our collective and personal healing paths, Sarah utilizes tools like Feng Shui and color psychology to infuse health elements into her intentional design business, with a focus on emotional well-being.
Her goal is to craft spaces that go beyond aesthetics, aiming for energy alignment and reflecting her clients' unique personalities and needs. Through intention and a deep understanding of the interconnectedness between spaces and emotions, she seeks to create healing sanctuaries that help her clients realize their full potential.
Beyond her design work, Sarah dedicates time to support the miracle of new beginnings as she accompanies a home birth midwife. When she is not working, she finds solace in nature, enjoys hikes with her husband and dog Hobbs, tends to her chickens, cultivates her vegetable garden, spends quality time with girlfriends and nurtures her homestead, which goes beyond just being a house—it's their sanctuary.
MY PHILOSOPHY
I believe that we all have a taste and a sense of what we like and find visually appealing. Sometimes you might not be aware of it. To me as a Designer, I find my first purpose in helping you discover what YOU love. In the end, having a perfectly designed house does not mean a whole lot if you don’t FEEL at home. What makes you feel at HOME? Besides functionality, isn’t it the personal touch, being surrounded with what you LOVE, your necessities, all these small details, and your style?
Let me help you discover YOUR own style so you can enhance your home as your sanctuary!
CORE VALUES: honest communication - friendly and empathic interaction - intention - dedication - creative thinking - authenticity - efficiency - attention to detail.
I am open to small projects and like to work with what is already there (especially for a renovation or do-over) to start combining, blending and unifying objects and colors to create a beautiful, layered space that suits your style and is functional and energy aligned.
